Sava have made the decision that they will no longer operate the Sava HCS Scheme from 1st September 2023.
For a number of years, Sava’s main areas of focus have been on education and knowledge sharing within the residential surveying industry. During this time, they have continued to maintain their HCS software for two reasons:
- To provide it to learners undertaking the Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation as part of their assessment.
- To allow the people they trained as Home Inspectors to have a product they were able to offer to consumers. This was due to the fact there was limited software available in the market for those who are not members of the RICS.
There are now many available software products within the market, and they feel it is time to close down the HCS scheme.
The HCS report format is available as a commercial product from GoReport.

How much will the software cost?
GoReport are offering discount plans for sole traders setting up their own business or businesses employing Sava graduates who do not currently use GoReport. Plans can be viewed here.

Will GoReport provide insurance?
No, GoReport only provide software, you will need to maintain your own PII cover.
I used to be insured through the Sava Scheme, will I still have access to PI run off?
Yes, Sava will maintain the run off cover for the 15 years required.
Can I still have access to my old reports?
Yes, Sava will maintain access to the HCS writing software until January 2024. After this time please contact membership@sava.co.uk if you need to access any old reports.

Will I still have access to Sava EDGE and the Technical Bulletins?
Yes – this won’t change and Sava will continue to produce the Technical Bulletin and update Sava EDGE.
Will anyone be able to use the Home Condition Survey product through GoReport?
Yes, Sava will not be carrying out any checks on who can use the HCS Survey Template. The report will contain a statement to consumers to inform them of this and ensure they check the credentials of whoever provides their report.
